Your paint code should be on the back of your bonnet and be 543.

I have tried for a long time to find a source for new identification plates for my 610, and you will only get a new oval plate from the factory if you get your Renault dealer to send your original to Dieppe - clearly you cannot do that! I could have sent my somewhat corroded original but decided not to as I don't trust the Renault 'system'! The factory cannot provide new manufacturer's (rectangular) plates.

You will see these plates on ebay periodically - rarely original but the oval plate can be reproduced almost exactly and there is one French specialist that offers the plate (and will stamp your car number into it for a supplementary fee). I will look through my records and find the contact website for you, but be warned that these plates are not cheap - probably around 90 Euros with the stamping. The same company will reproduce the rectangular plate, albeit not identically because they can't reproduce the punching method for certain numbers on the plate. Nevertheless they do look quite good, but the rectangular plates are even more (around 115 euros). I had been offered both plates for 165 euros (stamped with all correct numbers) but declined as I have carefully refurbished my originals and will make do for now!

Just for interest an oval plate (factory identical) recently went on ebay for around £26 recently - the seller periodically offers them so I suspect these are repros but they are good - perhaps worth contacting the seller? Have a look at recently sold items on the A610 (any country) listings - you should find it.

Hope this helps for now - will follow up with more information.

This is the French company that can produce the oval plate exactly, and a reasonable replica of the rectangular plate:

http://plaques.anciennes.free.fr/

I contacted someone called 'Dany' who seems to run the company, his email is: heures@free.fr

Just checked my correspondence and the best price they would do the plates for me for, fully stamped with the car's original serial numbers etc, was 60 euros for the oval plate and 115 euros for the rectangular plate (postage included), so as I said not particularly cheap. I've had the odd quote from specialists in the UK, but around £100 for the oval plate (as a one-off) seems to be the norm. The rectangular plate is problematic as it is both stamped and embossed and noone has the Alpine 'A' stylised logo.

Best of luck with your endeavours. I'm sure many would be interested if you achieve any degree of success, as Stephen said, the plates are just another irritating part of the A610 that seems to be prone to corrosion! If I could find a way, I would remanufacture them out of stainless steel!
