Slow electric windows??!!!

Postby ben » Tue Nov 02, 2004 10:57 am

Hello people, the electric windows on my 1986 GTA have never worked, so i thought i would take them to bits last weekend. I cleaned all the parts and got all the s**t out of the tube which moves the glass up and down and re-lubricated it, had a look at the motors, which seem fine and cut my fingers when i try to stop them :? . After putting it all back together the windows do work, but i have to give them some help to go all the way up and they are very slow.... Has anyone got any ideas???

Hi Ben, this has been raised before somewhere on this discussion board and it seems that the switches are often the problem... either replace them or really clean up the contacts.

Surely if it is the switches that are suspect, then the easiest way to confirm that it is the switches would be to bypass then and just "hold the 2 wires together" ?
