Noooooo!

What's going on? I think you have definately run over a robin and been walking under ladders alot recently.

What are you going to do next, I can see why you want to give up but you can't let it beat you!!!

Keep your pecker up.

I've had enough .I must be doing something wrong when building the bottom end .It's a different block and crank ......................But same bearing caps and casing as last time .
I have the engine Dave Miles and I pulled out of his car last Easter and that Ebay bargain lump .
I think it's a case of throw one of those in . My build skills seem to have deserted me .Beginners luck the first time obviously

I suggest you put it to one side for a week or two and then come back to it. If you give up - it's beaten you, if you don't you, then you've just not finished it yet!

Good luck, we've all been there one way or another.

So far it's been big ends 2 ,mains 1, valves 1 .It sounds like a big end so there's a chance I may be able to do it without taking the lump out again .

I wonder how much I'd get if I broke the fecker and got shot of all the other Renault shite lying about ??
The Adaptronic is all sorted with a new top end loom ,crank pulley trigger sensor etc ( it's pretty much plug and play ) ,T3 60 trim .48 turbine ,freshly rebuilt ,tubular wishbones all newly bushed ,rebuilt gearbox with new knuckles ,Cobra seats on std GTA runners ,Toyo 888s all round , just scrubbed in ................
New this ,new that ,uprated pumps ,injectors ,oil cooler setup ,rebuilt rear brakes koni lowering stuff .........it goes on and on ..............
+ 3 engines , a set of skimmed heads and two crates full of ' that'll come in handy ' bits .Body panels ,blah, blah ,blah .......................

Someone please make me an offer I can't refuse .

You got to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2vDn6Ph1YA

Sling one of those spare lumps you have lying about (one you haven't touched  ) and get out and enjoy the car again for a while.

Then rebuild it again  when you have had time to think

Sump off and nothing obvious ,very few , tiny ickle bits of metal in the back end .They are doable in-situ so it's one at a time ,remove ,inspect and refit .I hope if it's a shell that the crank isn't damaged ..................Need to get a full set of shells and some new nuts ........................
I might get the urge this week to do it ,if not it'll be after me holidays ...................

Monkey Boy ! have you got any shells and small nuts lying about ??

No new shells, only those in old rods. Renault are the only supplier I know of at the mo (Simon's come from Ren at same price). Can probably find a set of nuts however I prefer to use newies myself... If you go to Renault with the reg L836 TRV for conrod nuts, it's a late 3 litre and they're smaller heads with flange - much easier to thread and torque.

Clee,
Don't give up on it mate, when its all sorted (as it eventually will be) and you've got your foot to the floor with turbo on full boost and a big stupid grin all over you're face, all the current problems will seem minor.
I have a Triumph Stag with similar issues, been off the road for 23 months now and it gets me down everytime something else needs doing to get it back on the road. Only the thought of the V8 burble and cruising to the coast makes me stick with it!
Good luck, keep smiling
