Oil drain plug size

Can somebody please confirm that the oil drain plug on my GTA turbo is 3/8" before I try to change the oil? I have tried searching but found no answer

if it has the square socket drive, it's 8mm. Often they also have a 17 or 19mm hex to put a spanner on too.

It is the square socket key.I have just been out and checked as I have an 8mm key but looked too small, and it is too small? Also have an 11mm key and that was too big so assume 3/8"?

Everything else on the engine is metric... maybe 10mm?

Would make sense as 11mm seems just too big?

Can confirm it is 10mm, If it has not got one already, get one with a magnet fitted. I did, its amazing what sticks to it when removed to do an oil change.

The oil does not get hot enough to affect the magnetic in my humble opinion.There is also one or more fitted in GTA gearboxes. I noticed it when I replaced an oil seal buried deep inside the box. I have been using magnetic drain plugs for years, and have never got the impression that they have lost their effect. You can purchase them in Hypermarkets in France for all cars complete with washer, dont know about UK though.
They are very effective judging by the silver/grey slime stuck to them when removed.

some manufactureres leave magnets in the bottom of the oil pan, also in autoboxes too. They wont go far, so long as the pan is steel.

I put a few of magnets on the outside of my Lexus oil filters and they collect quite a few fine particles over 10k miles even after 160k miles. Allloy block like a PRV.

The minute metal particals dont come from the ali castings, they come from liners, rings etc. Its the metal that accumulates as wear takes place, it is carried around by the oil, and hopefuffy gets picked up by the magnet and is stopped from recirculated around the engin, thus reducing further wear due to abrasive oil. I grant you it is marginal, but every little helps.
