New Alpine A110 - Extending warranty?

Postby MikeA37 » Mon Mar 15, 2021 10:58 am

The earlier cars are now out of the Renault/Alpine 3 year, 60k, warranty.
Has anyone taken out follow-on cover for their car?
Does the community think its worthwhile and who might be a good provider? Also.......the elephant in room.......how much, if you want to share!!

UK cars were delivered late July/August so there's still some time to go for the warranty.

Be tempting to go for an actual Alpine warranty if the price is right and the service is good...Those I know who have had warranty work done have found it to be mixed with significant delays on parts etc. I've not used it yet but will do so for the leaky boot.

Not sure it would be any better with a third-party warranty company as they will have even less influence for getting hold of parts.

Aren't most "manufacturer" extended warranties still actually provided by a 3rd party? How much information on the cars is available outside the dealer network? (eg service manual information etc) - I would hope that a manufacturer extended warranty would at least cover the work being done at a franchised dealer, while for a generic warranty I don't know if that would be the case.

I'd also check for exclusions on electronics - things like the dash/infotainment worry me in some ways than the mechanicals.

My Alpine A110 PE is now three years old and I want an extended warranty. Alpine West London don't seem to be able to help. Anyone else had any success?

Facing the same issue come October.
Most of the major providers either do not list Alpine or do not offer cover for my Pure. e.g.RAC

Did find one at https://www.best4warranty.com/ who offer 3 levels of cover.
No info on who they are or their reputation - need to do some digging.

Alpine West London have offered an Alpine warranty direct from Alpine. New to them but they have one ready and waiting. Good news.

See paragraph in this from Alpine Financial Services......they say they offer extensions.
Whether this is for any car, or only those under finance deals, i do not know?
(footnote does say it depends on country)

Hold that positive message from Alpine West London...this is the response from the "helpful" Alpine app!!!

Don't remember being offered an extended warranty in my first year of ownership!

Thank you for your message about the warranty extension for your Alpine A110.

We regret to inform you that the warranty extension contract can be subscribed within the first 12 months.

The Alpine team and I remain at your disposal for any new queries you may have.

Yours sincerely,

The Alpine team

That seems a bit like Franglais to me. Also seems a bit odd to be required to take out an extended warranty in the first 12 months of a cars life when it has a 3 year warranty anyway too.

Odd it may be but it has always been the case that the warranty extension has to be purchased during the first 12 months of ownership.
From what I have read on the FAR forum this is Alpine policy and applies in all countries.
My car was an ex-demo, 10 months old when purchased, and unfortunately I was not made aware of this limitation at the time.
I paid cash so possibly it is only available as an option offered with an RFI finance deal although I never pursued the issue to see if this is indeed the case.
Pretty poor for a car in the 60k price bracket but it is what it is I'm afraid.
The main problem is that very few third party warranty providers offer cover for the A110.

This may be the guy to contact, to voice any thoughts on the topic!
Seems a very poor offering from Alpine?

I’m not on Twitter or Facebook- a post on either of those platforms might elicit a response if anyone else has the time/inclination

Well I’ve already been contacted by the UK territory manager who is getting my supplying dealer (Winchester) to contact me.
I hope that is fruitful and is not merely passing the buck for them to say “sorry- had to be done in first twelve months”.
He asked for reg and vin so he knows how old the car is.

Fingers crossed and I’ll update you all.
