New Alpine 2+2

Postby miles thomas » Tue Aug 25, 2020 3:46 pm

After 110 production ends a new all electric 2+2 coupé will be the next Alpine.
I haven't found any photos of the car or drawings but an electric GTA maybe interesting ;)

Yes it would give you rapid performance but probably Wt about 1800 to 1900 kg crammed with every piece of electronics to make it go around corners, but most of the driving experience will have have been removed, it will make you feel like you know what you’re doing but the computers have sorted it for you lovely. I must rush out and buy one as soon as they come out.

Steady everyone we have 2 years+ to run on the A110 I think so maybe battery tec will be lighter and more power dens by then.
I'm just interested to see if they use styling clues from the GTA and A610 like they have done with the new A110.
What would a modern GTA look like whatever it's powered by?

the lead up to noticeable step changes in energy density is long. In two years the weight equation won't have changed much for electric cars you can actually buy. In addition, Alpine will be using a Renault group electric platform. So it will be probably be this one
https://easyelectriclife.groupe.renault ... -vehicles/
or whatever electric Zoe etc is using at that time.
The Alpine name will become more branding and less the "different philosophy" that it is now.

This is all very good for preserving the uniqueness of the A110 but not so good for Alpine as a place to find different engineering. I think.
