Fuel filters, 1 or 2 on a late 87 Atmo GTA?

Postby Petehuws » Fri Jul 17, 2020 7:14 am

Hello Experts,
A noob of a question.. On the GTA Atmo, does this incorporate X2 fuel filters as on the Turbo please? I know the Turbo has in effect a 'pre filter' close to or at the fuel tank, just a headscratch moment on wondering whether the Atmo shares this setup or just has the one main?
Reading the M.R.273 service manual & only shows the one being present on any diagrams and schematics?
Many thanks Pete

My car (1990 Atmo, so probably 1989 made) only had the one near the pump under the tank at the front.
There is another strainer in the input to the first carb (and that feeds through to the second carb) but on my car it was missing.
I have also added another in line filter between the fuel pressure regulator and the carbs (on the pipe from the duct to the carbs) as my car had stood for a long time and I'm still getting the occasional bits of crud that blocks the idle jet and I'm trying to prevent it.
There is no equivalent of the second turbo filter (or second pump).

Hope that helps.

Hi Lee,
That helps greatly - thank you very much.
Like you I think I'll add a small 'couple o' quid' filter after the regulator & before the carbs as I have a similar long standing crud issue.
Many thanks again & have a good weekend.
Pete
