Si - how would you know if you had valve bounce? you are not going to hear it unless you fully float a valve into a piston  8)

Wait until it breaks

Postby Tony Smith » Fri Nov 04, 2011 9:11 pm

I'd wait until it lets go, Mine seems ok with 350 ft lbs so why not suck it and see. If you supercharge it you won't want lower gearing anyway.

Is this a trick question :?:

If a valve floats the combustion chamber is no longer sealed the engine loses compression=power it spits back through the induction and through the exhaust as the valves are no longer sealing. I would have thought the noise would not be great either and if the valve smacks the pistons I guess youll definately know about it  :? LOL

So any reasonable guide as to a safe-ish above Renault recommended reve limit :?:

well see Tony I'll always have a good standard box sitting on standby but again this ratio drop is not massive and the car still needs to be geared for the max acceleration verses max speed obtainable on a circuit I am not bothered about terminal speed just how quick it gets there

I will have an engine balanced and lightend where neccessary in order to increase rev capacity this will being the gear change speeds back to standard speeds if you like but 0-60 time is again not an important figure in itself.
