I think mine has made over 300 at the flywheel but depends how you work out the transmission losses. 3 rolling roads - 245@wheels at 1 bar, 240@wheels at 1 bar, these were both when the mapping wasn't great , 259 bhp@fly at 0.7 bar after some decent mapping but non working boost controller to up the boost. Reluctant to put it on the RR nowadays as its cost me 2 exhaust manifolds. 20% transmission loss would put those 1st 2 at @ 300bhp

20% pah !!

That's a tuners calculation ...

237 at the at the wheels , 260 fly at 5500 and a bar ,from a 2.5l ...Max power should be at 6500 and with another 10 psi ....all theory but sound and backed up by fueling data ..... 400 on the new build or I'll eat both those piggies BigM

IIRC Tony's was producing over 350 ft-lbs at something like 3500rpm on one of the earlier sessions (when the chargecooler wasn't working either  )

20% is about consistent on the UN1, had a DeLorean showing a loss of 42hp maximum with a resulting 206 at the flywheel.

The guys at a recent show were getting around 30hp loss on moderately tweaked DeLoreans producing around 150 at the flywheel.

20% concept...

transmission losses, just that... provided the rubber isn't changed, and you run the same tyre pressures, then your losses will be consistent..

but they are total losses through the transmission from the road contact back, and it wouldn't know if it had a 10hp motor or a 600hp motor attached (assuming you are not using bananas for lubrication)... so if you swap out one motor, and replace it with another more powerful unit (say 600hp) with no other changes your losses are going to go up to 120hp?? Ummm pass that one across me again please...

30 isn't a bad number, highest I've seen, most 23 -27 hp on UN1, higher figures with larger tyre wider profile / contact patch.

Looks like a 270 - 280 hp motor Tony 8)

So that's the same as one sick 2.5ltr with blown head gaskets and about 6psi, not good really...

this is wheel numbers not corrected for losses:

New buns please
... A diamond is only a piece of coal that did well under pressure... PRV afflicted, may be I need to squeeze harder!!!!

Depends if we can find some pistons   or at least some gudgeon pins to suit the ones we have ....special innit .
I fear the lump is in for a bit of a pasting .Getting a lot more info from the machinists .Seems the R & LH banks are 2cc different so we have diff compression .
That is being addressed and also crank assembly going in for dynamic balance .
Given up on getting the most out of it on the cheap because even on the cheap aint cheap so no future ' sales ' can come from that .We know how to get 260 out of them easily enough now on a limited budget so will leave it there ....if anyone is interested ....got another lump in build to this spec at the moment .

Okay we're talking drivetrain, not just the UN1. You can just as easily look at it the other way and take it towards the minimum extreme - it doesn't take 30hp to turn the shaft at 5rpm.

The way the drivetrain drag is measured is flawed anyway. BUT what we're doing here is looking at losses as a function of power trasmitted, and while certain elements will remain constant, others, such as the deformation of the tyres and heat generated by the meshing of the gears will increase with power applied.

It's a very rough'n'ready calc, no arguments from me on that one.
