MachineMart does a big shiny metal syringe for £6.99. Add about a metre of clear plastic tubing and you have the ideal tool for the job - just suck up the oil from the bottle and squeeze it into the filler hole.

Good idea if you only put 3 litres into your "input" container, otherwise you will end up with lots of spillage down the side of your box, making it even messier in the future.

Filling box

Postby Miles » Mon Aug 14, 2006 10:24 am

You do not need any special tools.
Just the standard oil container with supplied plastic tube,
Its a botch though and you will need 4 one litres bottles worth as you are filling from underneath. Just buy 4. Or you will end up not filling to the line trust me.
It is not possible empty the contents out entirely working underneath.
The above was obviously not clear.
I meant the contents of the new oil you are putting in.
You can empty the gearbox no problem.

Yes, you need to tilt the box at vaious angles to get all the old oil out, I maust have got another cup full out. This was quite simple with the box out of the car, but I imagine you can do similair by jacking up the corners in turn.

Ask them a question, whether it will work on UN1 gearboxes...

Spider has an oil pump on the gearbox for the cooling......disconnect pipe from cooler switch on pump and 1 minute later...... box is drained 8)

to refill same disconnected pipe..... attatch funnel and refil takes a little longer than draining.... but there you go 8)
