Not keen on the wing mirrors compared to the original (Makes it look like Gary Linekar) concept but apart from that it look superb.

Small feature in autocar today.

Think holding back the "performance" version might be a mistake. Will put people off buying the first release if they know something better is in the pipeline.

Its never hurt BMW or Mercedes. The M cars & AMG versions are usually a couple of years behind the bread & butter models. That said, you could well be right. Alpine owners are a bit more discerning than most. ::L ::E ::M ::M ::I ::N ::G ::S :wink:

Does look lovely. Hopefully for us, the depreciation curve will follow most other Alpine's and Renault's over the years and will be worth 30% of the new price after 3 years and 30,000 miles. Might just take a punt then. That's if anyone buys one in the first place. Fingers crossed they do.
It's against my religion of bangernomics to buy a car that depreciates in value. Buying a new car is like taking a massive bundle of £50's and systematically setting fire to every single one and watching them burn. Of course I'm glad those that can buy new, do! :up

No the manufacturers do it a totally different way now, not many people have the money to buy a new car as all the manufacturers have over inflated the cost of the cars.
They want to sell the new cars on PCP contracts as much as possible and it's unbelievable people do it, Alfa keep on trying to tempt me with a 4C and keep trying get me on a PCP this is how they get the bulk of their money out of the car at your expense. After the contract ends the bulk of the money it's all profit when they sell it. The 4C deal £4999 down 24 monthly payments 599 / total £19,375 Then hand the car back. Then on the forecourt 2 years old full service history one owner £44.995.
But everyone seems to do it but all like losing money even with a tax break it's still not worth it they have just had their :Butt

It is rather odd the way people want new cars but then treat them like disposable items, but I guess the governments and even the manufacturers encourage the sheep to look at it this way...

You'd never buy a house on a PCP basis but a car is probably your second largest purchase after a house...

As for Alpine holding back a high performance model, the majority of sales always depend on price, so if the high performance model costs 250k whilst the standard costs 50k, there'll be more standard models on the road.

New Alpine showroom in Boulogne-Billancourt.

this former Porsche centre near Renaults HQ in Billancourt is being transformed into a flagship Alpine showroom.

I'm new on the site. I'm not (yet) an Alpine owner, but I'm French and as many of my compatriots,
I'm excited by the return of the Alpine brand.
I've been waiting for years for the return of Alpine.
As I'm registered on some French automotive forums, I can grasp some informations you don't have yet and shareit with you.

The first one I can share is that there has been an Alpine CEO (M. Vd Sande) conference this week on Nov. 15th
and we got few informations.
I left it in French; it's too big for google translate.

Pourquoi l’Université Paris Dauphine ?
Simplement parce qu’il y a un partenariat depuis quelques années entre le groupe Renault et la filière MBA Management Internationale de Paris Dauphine.
L’intervention de Michael VAN DER SANDE a duré une trentaine de minutes.

Voici les informations que j’ai retenues :

Pourquoi faire renaître la marque ?
Pour deux raisons :
- La 1ere étant l’image. Ce segment est un segment de passionnés qui permet de faire rêver les gens, même ceux qui ne seront pas clients.
- La seconde raison est la rentabilité. Le segment premium permettant de dégager une rentabilité malgré son faible volume (Il estime le marché des « vraies sportives » autour des 300 000 véhicules neuf /an dans le monde).

La structure Alpine fait partie du groupe Renault.
Alpine dispose d’une équipe dédiée d’environ 130 personnes. Une centaine pour la partie développement et une trentaine s’attelant à la partie administration/vente.
Pour constituer ces équipes, ils ont pris « les meilleurs » dans le groupe Renault et effectué quelques recrutements externes.

Pour son démarrage, Alpine sera présent sur 14 marchés (tous Européen, dont la Suisse & UK) et se reposera sur 60 concessions issues du groupe Renault, toutes déjà sélectionnées.
Les showrooms et les vendeurs seront dédiés à Alpine (pas de précision pour la partie entretien et je n’ai pas pensé à le relancer à ce sujet par la suite. Mais la phrase suivante sous-entend un entretien dédié Alpine).
Seule une partie du back-office sera mutualisée entre les concessions Renault sélectionnées & les showrooms Alpine.

En 2018, Alpine s’attaquera au marché Japonais.
Les premiers résultats déterminerons la suite à donner pour d’autres marchés.

Du côté du véhicule, aucune révélation.
Le moteur (4 cylindres) est issu de l’alliance Renault/Nissan.
Le châssis est spécifique et sera bien monté à Dieppe.

La voiture répondra aux critères suivants : compacte, légère, moteur arrière et surtout, elle sera très agile.
Le véhicule devant être performant pour légitimer le modèle auprès des passionnés tout en restant accessible (en termes d’habitabilité).
Du côté des suspensions, elles seront confortables sans sacrifier la performance (j’en déduis donc deux possibilités, suspensions pilotées ou deux finitions en termes de châssis. Je pencherai pour la seconde hypothèse).
Ils sont focalisés sur le modèle actuel qui pourrait recevoir une version hybride dans le futur.

Si le succès de la relance de la marque est au rendez-vous, ils étudieront la possibilité de proposer d’autres modèles.
Avec un seul objectif, quelques soit le segment, les Alpine devront obligatoirement être les plus agiles de leur segment respectif.

En performance, les 4.5 secondes pour abattre le 0 à 100km/h a été répété.
Du côté de la boite de vitesse, ils n’envisagent pas à court terme de proposer une BVM.
Enfin, l’Alpine sera la meilleur de son segment en terme d’émissions de CO², grâce à son faible poids.
Du côté du prix, elle se situera entre une Mégane R.S. 275 Trophy R et une A110 d’occasion…

Communication :
Pas de publicité traditionnelle/ de masse. On ne verra pas de spot publicitaire sur TF1.
La cible étant « pointue », se caractérisant par des personnes passionnées et aisées.

3 axes principaux de communication :
1er axe, s’appuyer sur la communauté des passionnés. Faire vivre une expérience commune à leurs clients, basée sur le partage de la passion (le circuit étant perçu comme un vecteur très favorable). L’idée étant que les passionnées se parlent et partagent leurs passions, ce qui permet « d’animer la marque ».
D’où la présentation de la Célébration en marge des 24h du Mans, du showcar Vision auprès de 80 propriétaires de Berlinette à Monaco, de la présence des deux véhicules au Festival de Goodwood…etc.

Le seconds axe, sera basé sur le digital à travers les sites web et les réseaux sociaux.

Enfin, ils s’appuieront sur la presse écrite pour associer le nouveau véhicule à l’histoire de la marque.


Comme vous l’aurez compris, pas d’annonce particulière lors de cette conférence.
Mr VAN DER SANDE relayant le discours de Mr GHOSN lors de la présentation de la Vison en février dernier.
La seule différence portant sur la Vision.
Cette dernière reflétant à 85-90% le modèle commercialisé selon Mr VAN DER SANDE Vs les 80% annoncé en février...bref, RAS.

Dans le prolongement de cette conférence, il y avait un cocktail pendant lequel nous avons pu échanger de manière informelle avec Mr VAN DER SANDE, qui m’a d’ailleurs agréablement surpris par son accessibilité.

Lors de ces échanges, il m’a confirmé que les bons de commandes n’étaient pas ouverts à ce jour.
Comme indiqué par Interlagos, le process sera le suivant, ouverture des précommandes, puis quelques mois après, validation de la commande (c’est à ce moment que le choix sur les finitions sera à faire).
Concernant la période d’ouverture des précommandes, je n’ai obtenu qu’un: prochainement.
En demandant si les précommandes seront ouvertes avant la présentation officielle du modèle définitif en janvier prochain :mrgreen: , il m’a rétorqué qu’il ne confirmait pas que la présentation aurait lieu à ce moment-là.
Interprétation très personnelle, j’ai cru comprendre entre les lignes que cette présentation aurait lieu après janvier.

Du côté de l’animation de la communauté, il nous a indiqué qu’il y aurait bien à terme, des journées de roulage sur circuit tel que le propose Renault Sport (les JPRS).
Après le format, la fréquence…etc. ne sont pas encore déterminé.

As a follow-up to this conference, there was a cocktail during which we were able to exchange informally with Mr VAN DER SANDE, who surprised me by his accessibility.

During these exchanges, he confirmed that the purchase orders were not open to date.
