Just seen a BBC trailer for the above which had a fleeting shot of the A110 which caught fire while they were road testing. Not sure what time but I think it’s airing on Easter Monday. Will be interesting to see how they report the incident!

Thanks for the headsup.
I'm no longer a big fan of TG but will tune in out of curiosity.

Well it all looked so promising with Harris and Jordan clearly enjoying the car until.................

Hope it gets over this and becomes a success.

Many cars have had "issues" during early production.
Mercedes A Class..... and the Audi TT that kept rolling, many more I am sure.

Yes but this was quite a drama .....PR disaster however you dress it. It will certainly put the average ' I've got £50k to spend' punter off.
I think the UK is the only country where pre-orders fell way short so not the best start.

The thing that pissed me off about the test is that he says the A110 was the last car Alpeen did in 1977 then the marque disappeared.

Agreed, you'd think their researchers would have done a thorough job. I would have also thought the presenters should have known more about the marque, supposedly being car enthusiasts.

Gogglebox tonight, at 22.20, lists Top Gear as one of the programmes watched. Just hope it's not the one with the A110.

Just remembered that it's a repeat. It's the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, not the A110 thank goodness.

To me it is a shame it obviously it is a good car as there hasn’t been a bad review and some top drivers have ordered one, to me the big boys have been caught of guard and let’s wait and see if some new light Wt cars start appearing from the big boys.
Don’t really watch Top gear any more but did see the one when they where talking about new cars coming out and apart from saying it looks amazing then something like why name a Car after a breakfast cereal, after that that just sums up the new top gear, so if it was Lotus being released isn’t that a plant or a yoga move, the writers of top gear have lost the plot do some research into history of brands before saying things like that.

Nice to see the feature but as MVS says history lesson gap was a bit disappointing and the road test wasn't the best.

Straight line drag race the A110 was easily left behind by the Cayman S.

On paper A110 is 4.5 to 100kmh. Cayman S 4.6 to 100kmh.

So either Alpine are overstating performance or Porsche are understating or someone wasn't trying hard enough.

Also the lap time was a little disappointing after all the glowing road tests and was slower than an M3 which weighs half a tonne more.

Should have given the car 50bhp more or even 30bhp to start with like the Megane and this would have been an non issue.

So maybe the body roll which they kept banging on about makes it feel fast but in reality it isn't.

Given the fire in the mix not a great advert although Chris Harris was glowing and has apparently ordered one :-)

You would have thought the idiots at the factory would have checked the car over with a fine tooth comb before giving it to Top Gear with a leaking fuel line...

Bit harsh on the engineers..... guessing that car has been thrashed up that stage with countless journo's attempting to break it even before CH got his hands on it. Also, down side of a packed, small, mid engine concept with little room in the engine bay to easily check, or even see, stuff like that.
never thought I would want a list but now find myself needing one just to remind me: Clio V6 230, 5 gt turbo, 5 Gordini turbo, Megane RS 300 Trophy.

Maybe why he left lol. Just careless imo for such an important test. On my pre production clio they hadn’t even used the right fuel injection rated hose. Lucky that didn’t go the same way.
