David Gentlemen--- Where are my parts?

Postby waiting4partsfromDavidG » Fri Feb 22, 2008 4:44 pm

Here is my frustrating history of conversation and payment to David G. Random responses, incomplete information --- No parts - allegedly sent in January as per David's own words.

Here is my order as it sits idle in his hands.

David,

It would be useful to know what shipping company you are using in order for the tracking number to have any meaning.

Please forward the shippers information.

DT Motorsport provided the information indicating there may be a problem with 18” wheels only.

Hi Alan

Well I have the tracking number of JD0002296175182623 though there are no details yet on the system as per their website, so Im waiting for a call.

As for the wheels, Im only going on what my distributor said to me. There are a few people that import the wheels, maybe they are not aware of any problems until they need to order.

Cheers

David

David,

According to the UK distributor of AZEV wheels “there are currently no problems with the supply of Azev A, C or E in the sizes you require.”

As you have not been forthcoming with any tracking information shall I presume that nothing has yet been shipped to me?

Hi Alan

Hmm, yes, I sent the parts about a 3 days after. Ill track them today. The US shipments are quite slow due to the weight and shipping method (30kgs)

Wheel wise, 9-10x17" rear with 10 to 15mm offset, front 7 or 7.5x17" with 40mm offset.

David,

Do you yet have an answer to my last question pertaining to wheel specifications?

Is there any chance that I might receive the parts I have ordered so I can install them on my car before spring arrives?

I am perplexed at your lack of communication and inability to fill the order.

Please advise me of delivery time!

David,

Would you please send me the specifications of the wheels that you had on order for me ie: Centerbore, offset and bolt circle dimensions so that I may see about getting the matching dimensions from Rimstock or domestic wheel supplier.

Thanks,

Hi Jon

No, all wheels are to order as this is such a small market, I can't afford to hold stock, and these wheels are a unique fitment.

If you wanted to source some GTA fitment wheels in the US, Rimstock do direct fitment, and they have a distributorship in the US.

Hi Alan

Reference my email sent to you last week, everything is still as it was bar the Azev order due to their 'damaged mould' as they put it. Manufacture is expected next week, with stock to me the following.

If there is a problem with emails, please use alpinerenaulttuning@ukonline.couk instead, as all the others go through the same server, or contact me through the Forum private messaging system.

David,

As I see you have plenty of time to participate in the Alpine forums on almost a daily basis I find it surprising that I have no correspondence regarding my order sine September 24th. If the parts I have ordered are no longer available I would appreciate a cancellation of my order or a more precise delivery date for the requested goods. I noticed you had listed a special price on a spare set of type C AZEV wheels in the sizes I have on order. If these are still available I would consider them instead. Please apprise me of the current disposition of this order.

Hi Alan

It works out £300 to send 4 wheels and the suspension to your door. Total weight is around 70kilos. Fully insured.

It can be done slightly cheaper, around £220, but buy boat, upto 3 weeks, and a non insured price. And you would have to collect from the port in NY.

Hi Alan

They will clear fine 'when lowered', but may rub (very slightly) on the inside edge of the wheelarch on full lock. Also, they will rub on the bulkhead when the car is jacked up in the air, so please make sure this is ok with your vehicle testing station...

Or just put the original wheels on for testing.

I have also been in the mail order business for car parts for the past 4 years or so. Occasionally problems do arise on incoming parts, esp from the US, but this always relates to customs charges and is usually dealt with inside 4 days maximum.

Categorically: I have NEVER had a parcel I've sent go missing. I use UPS for large stuff and the good ol' post office for first class and occasionally air mail small packets (sub 2kg).

David Gentlemen--- Where are my parts?

Postby waiting4partsfromDavidG » Fri Feb 22, 2008 7:04 pm

I have ordered parts from RIMMERBROS.CO.UK in the past for a Rover 3500 and they are on the ball with prompt order fulfillment, tracking and delivery. To the door in a matter of days for a bulky package of parts including a sttering rack. At this rate the bonded frame on my car may rust away before I ever see this order.

Considering all the time DG spends answering posts on the club forums it might be better spent stuffing boxes for UPS pick up. That way he could boast about his high CSI rating.

Oh dear

I have been trying to get hold of DG as he was supposed to be buying parts from me :!: To be fair to David I have bought parts from him in the past and they have always turned up eventually, would I buy from him again though after recent events ? Probably not....

I hope this situation gets resolved for you, I think DG uses DHL as his courier so you could try them?

LOOKING FOR PARTS

Postby waiting4partsfromDavidG » Sat Feb 23, 2008 2:13 pm

I inserted the tracking # I received from David G. in DHL, UPS and Fedex tracking and it does not work. Any other ideas? Has any one ever seen a tracking # like this and if so what carrier uses it? JD0002296175182623

Maybe its from the Camel Back Freight Company.
Or, maybe its just fictitious!

Also my poll for " Looking for parts from David G." has been removed - I suppose that no one has seen them least of all David G.

Maybe the club should have a list of preferred vendors based on performance like our cars have.

I only know how UPS tracking numbers work... I have a stack of blank UPS waybills sitting on my desk here. They're the carbon copy things that are stuck to the front of the box when sent. Each has its own unique barcode and number - here's one that I sent a few months back: H705 307 537 0 - that will track as having been delivered. I could give you several of the ones on my stack of blanks and these will error because they've not yet been used.

Domestically UPS uses 18 digit tracking numbers. Do you know the physical address of David Gentlemen's facility? Maybe I can just expedite matters by hiring a car and picking the parts up directly.

I know what, shall I just stop selling all bespoke parts completely and we can go back to a time before there were parts available for these cars?

If parts are not available, then they are not available, or they will be in due course, but you have to tollerate a waiting period. Such as the nature of such a niche market. If parts are lost in transit, then they are replaced, but then can still be subject to further delays due to the point above. If all else fails, then I just refund the monies no questions asked.

When I first started dabbling in Alpines, I had to wait for an 'infinite' time, as there was nothing available, hence why I got off my ass and did something about it..

Though I do now have his/your address it will no longer be of value to me as I have been notified by David G as follows:

Ah, Ive just read this after refunding. DHL can't track the coilover kit so I will be getting compensation in due course if it can't be found in a certain time period.

Sorry for this. If you ever want those parts again (which I doubt) they would need to be remanufactured anyway.

Cheers

David

Order #23

This has been confirmed in my PayPal account this morning and brings this matter to a close - though I would have been happier with the parts from my order already installed on my car.

Thanks for all your input both on the regular forum and pm.

David G.

It would be prudent to provide appropriate guidance to those enthusiasts ordering parts you list as available on your website. No mention of waiting period is provided until numerous months have passed. You might provide more accurate lead times for delivery or even suggest you are putting together an order for particular parts and need a minimum number of commitments to convince your suppliers to manufacture them.

Implicit in a website with a shopping cart is that parts are available from stock and generally specify – “call or email for availability” when quantities are low.

If people knew when to expect parts they wouldn’t have to look elsewhere.

If parts are not available --- Don’t try and sell them!

And thank you for the refund though both of us could have avoided paying commissions to PayPal for naught.

If you go through your previous posts you have posted the direct evidence that waiting times were given by me via those emails.

Your were told apon ordering that the said items were not in stock.

Also any delays have also been advised, again by the emails you listed.

You have also emailed quite regularly, and I think the last one I replied to was a few days ago regarding the tracking information.

Anyone has the right to cancel at ANY time. It is your perogative if you wish to proceed.

All payments are protected by PAYPAL, so the customers security issue of money is never in question either.

You have never tried to ring or text, I would have a log of an international number. You have never said in your emails you have tried to ring either...

I do not need to instruct if an item is 'in stock at present' on the site, I do this after the order is processed and instruct the customer if they want to wait or cancel, due to the fact most of the parts are made to order. If the site had info saying 'out of stock' then on some parts it would always say this, and no one would think the part is ever available!
