GTA A610 Gearbox Mount Variants

Postby stephendell » Tue Jun 25, 2019 12:14 pm

You may be aware that there are issues with the gearbox mount failing under hard acceleration and track use and Renault have taken steps to improve this over the years.

I was aware that there were at least two types of gearbox mount support but I until recently I hadn’t seen them all together. Parts book lists 4 variants and I have now seen three together.

Left is the basic GTA version which just bends, the middle one is the one I had powder coated for my white GTA and I had thought this was the A610 version with the triangular extension that goes inside the mount to stop if lifting. This was until I saw the much stronger version on the right with thicker plate, more strengthening and a revised bump stop.

This picture shows you how it all fits together.

There are also at least four grades of rubber hardness for the mount. Although Renault only officially supplied 2 for the GTA and A610

They all look the same but are very different grades of rubber and easy to tell apart by pressing.

GTA Version is quite soft and deforms fairly easily

A610 Version is harder and less easy to deform

RS Competition version is extremely hard and hardly deforms at all.

The mount is common to other Renaults and there are cheap patter versions available which are often very soft, much softer that the GTA version but visually they all look identical. So be careful what you are buying.
