Turbo Charger

Postby James Cherry » Wed Aug 17, 2005 9:16 pm

I need to get my Garrett turbo charger reconditioned. I am getting a lot of smoke out of the exhausts and Paul at ARR thinks the seals are gone allowing oil to seep into the exhaust system. The car is up there at the moment and I want to find the best, (cheapest) place to get it sorted. Does anyone have any suggestions? Found somewhere that will do a basic seal and bearing overhall for £100 + VAT which seems reasonable. I don't think there is much else up with it although once they get it it will be £395 for a full overhall if required.......

I can do a full rebuild to standard specification for £350, and this covers the costs of any new parts required if damaged or need replacement.

Many firms quote low for a 'rebuild' initially (though £100 is seriously low - does that include rebalancing and beadblasting...??) knowing that once they have the unit, they can quite easily say the turbine shaft is scored etc, or the turbine housing is cracked, and then the price comes back up to the £400 mark again as youve said....

Turnaround is usually 2-3 days.
