Big Brother PC Bullocks

Postby clee » Wed Apr 23, 2014 5:54 pm

Can we please get rid of the cussin control ???

I don't think any of our contributers will be turning the boards Blue but the odd p iss and bullocks won't hurt anyone + I think it actually detracts from the conversation if we are consatntly being censored

Don't look at me I only work here. To be fair I think we are all adults so don't mind the ban being lifted. If anything really offends anyone the moderators can be hauled into action...

The Censoring, is apart of the package that came with the software, within the forums program. It can be removed, but for now I will see how the vote goes, and then ask Mr Dell what he wished done. It is very easy to switch off, but as this is Mr Dells baby, and also reflects the image of the club as a whole. I will wait for his reply and decision.
At the end of the day, none of this would be possible, without you guys supporting the club. So vote and have your say.
I personally don't mind the odd colourful metaphor, but as BIG_MVS says, you would need to monitor this. BUT there is an alternative...
The system can be selective as to which words, and I could just select the most offensive, but please don't list them here. If we need to filter some words then privately IM me and I will sort that. But for now, lets vote and let Mr Dell make a decision.
Thanks
The Saint.

I for one will be dissapointed if its turned off. I much prefer a civil approach and don't feel the need to swear on any forum or particularly in conversation. A matter of standards old chap.

As my nine year old is fond of saying 'why did they invent swear words if you're not allowed to say them ? '

You do miss out on the richness of the language old bean and standards are relative :sarcasm

Maybe I'm talking a load of Sloblocks ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEkjiF_UilE ) but back in the early days part of Renault's support for the site (and not giving Steve grief) was conditional on maintaining the 'good name' and quality of the brand.

I know we don't get a massive level of support from La Regie, but it is fairly significant, and it'd be a shame to see it slip if someone took offence. A few of the old M3 sites were closed down by BMW lawyers sending stern emails / letters. Not saying it'd happen, but something to consider.

I'm sure Lee's right though, we know how to swear on here..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pceEAnPwx3s (This is not the bleeped version played on BBC2!!!!!)
I'm just here for the gasoline.

My post was in jest.
I'd like to think that with or without a ban, members would not feel the need to swear here.

Why would anyone want to swear about a Dieppe built car anyway?
never thought I would want a list but now find myself needing one just to remind me: Clio V6 230, 5 gt turbo, 5 Gordini turbo, Megane RS 300 Trophy.
