New owner

Hi guys
I sat in a LeMans as a schoolboy...and have 27 years later realised the ambition...a GTA V6 turbo in the driveway. I want to run it as a daily-driver, but maybe I'm unrealistic (maiden voyage home spoiled by the rear gearbox linkage break that is apparently common...hopefully not a bad omen...!)

Questions which are no doubt covered elsewhere- but the search function isn't on...

1. What size of wheel/tyre can I put on, without fouling the body or suspension, etc? I've currently got tiny wee original turbo vane alloys.

2. Any specialists in Scotland? I'm in Glasgow.

3. What 'easy' performance upgrades can I make? I've got a K&N and after-market exhaust, an a manual turbo dump valve. ECU?

4. Where's the best source for parts?

Welcome Colin .

Wheels are a bit scarce as an odd offset and most fit old Azev styles .It's a case of keeping an eye out on Ebay for something close and making them fit ...adapter plates and/or machining .
Parts always best to shout out on here first beforehand and beware of some listings as a lot are incorrect .
Basic service items are easy enough to find from the local factors ,you just need to cross ref to others Renaults .Again shout up on here for the codes etc .

Nearest specialist to you is in Belfast Or next in Derbyshire
Performance upgrades ...first off I'd service it ,change all filters ,plugs etc and then use it for a while to shakedown any electrical gremlins ...Make sure all sensors are doing what they should .
Any problems then here is the best place to ask .

Clee above speaks from considerable knowledge so is worth listening to.

I have done a lot of research into wheels over the last 6 months. Generally wheels that suit the car with the correct front off set are very difficult to obtain as the offset is unusually high. Also the chances of getting the correct centre bore are also slim, but that is easily sorted with either an adaptor or some machining.

The most popular wheel are Azev A, currently these are not manufactured with a suitable front offset, however I think I have found a source in Europe and have emailed them this morning as I am looking for a pair for the front of my car.

I have Azev A's with front offset of 35 which is too low really. Also I have found that if you use tyres that are too wide on the front you induce bump steer and the wrong offset will exaggerate this.

If the people in Europe can supply in the correct offsets I will provide the contact details to RAOC members.

Hope you enjoy your car. Clee is great at the mechanical stuff, the electrics appear to baffle everyone to one degree or another and are relatively unpredictable (I have just had a door lock solenoid give up the ghost with no warning)
