A610 Brakes

Another Braking question.

The reason my 610 was taken off the road was half pedal travel on the brakes. It was thought to be the master cylinder and one was sourced from Simon Auto for 400 Euro's :shock: It's different to the one on the car so I guess the garage took a look at it and gave up.

With the ignition turned off I have a pedal, with it on I get the half pedal of travel. Question is out of anyone's experience does this point to the master cylinder (there seems to be no fluid loss in the bottle or sign of seepage around the cylinder). Or could it be the servo or a hose or something.

Anyone have any thoughts?

If it turns out to be the servo then you are a lucky man as I'm pretty sure I have a new one in stock.

Yes sorry, with engine running.

I have a spare servo. Were the brakes OK when John Law had his 610 :?: :wink: I'd ask Jason Black but don't want to bring back bad memories :shock:

if you have no fluid leak on the car the only other cause is servo/ vacuum pipe. a new servo would be good but you need to check the vacuum pipe back to the engine and make sure all joints are sealed.
years ago i had a 3.0litre capri the master cylinder seals had worn and fluid was leaking out between the master and servo but the fluid was also getting inside the servo.
fitted a master seal kit and new servo and the breaks were perfect.

One thought, as I have had a bit of experience in this field with my 610. If the two DOT5 and DOT5.1 have been mixed you will get a similar reaction. Also, you have checked all the calipers for smooth piston movement?

Excellent :lol:

Could you have removed the servo pipe from off the plenum when removing them to get to the plugs? I'll check tomorrow as I have pretty much left everything off when firing her up...
