Speedo

Postby Saxon » Wed Jun 15, 2005 2:50 pm

Hi,
My speedo on newly aquired 92 GTA atmo is very intermitant, also the trip is seized and odometer reading less than it should. I have heard there are some common faults with the speedo. Any leads please or must I find a new unit? Steve.

Mine used to do this and it was down to the terminal block in the dash next to the instrument pod. Took it apart and wired the speedo wires round the block and bingo, no more problem.

Isn't it about time we had a separate section entitled 'Common faults' ?
Be easy to pick up information on common problems :D

Thanks for the advice ref speedo's, had a couple of attempts at connections and earths etc. Finally resolved by cleaning up the conections to the right of the rev counter. Well the speedo worked well today anyway.

Anyone know how much a wiper motor costs or if its fitted to other Renault models? Mine seems to have burn't out as the blades were caught in a screen cover and prevented from parking!!

Steve.

Does it still work, but not just park? If so there is a parking fuse in the fusebox..should sort it.
