GTA Door Mirrors

Postby coopercobra » Sat Jul 02, 2011 4:44 pm

Looking for a bit of advice please chaps!!

My passenger door mirror is broken -

Image

Thoughtfully  the last owner included all (well, most) of the bit which broke off inside the console bins so I have been able to glue them back into place. What I'd really like to do now, before starting the rubdown and filling process, is separate the main plastic housing from the aluminium mounting. I've applied some force to separate the two, but reluctant to really go for it! How are the two items held together?

Image

It also seems that the mirror is not original as under the red paint is metallic burgundy (Le Mans colour) and the motor assembly has been put in upside down!

Advice on separating the two parts most welcome!

Thanks, Andy

you need to make sure the two pins are moving freely spray on plenty of wd40 then with a screwdrver prize the front spring clip apart. try to squeeze one of the pins in and at the same time force the two halves apart at the spring clip end. they are a pig but this usualy works. steve has new ones in stock £50 each if you want some. good look :D
