A610 Head gaskets

Postby mettersl » Thu Apr 28, 2011 5:07 pm

I have just bough ('cos they were a Ebay bargain...) a pair of head gaskets listed as being suitable for an A610- Z7X 744.

Now when they arrived they are marked as suitable for 3.0 litre engines with hydraulic lifters.....not like the A610.

Before I send them back does anyone know if the extra oil feed holes will cause a problem on a car with solid lifters? Or equally if I convert my former Laguna engine to solid lifters (the aim being to get it closer to A610 spec. over time) will these gaskets still be suitable?

Wise sage like advice needed....
(I know I should buy Genuine Renault gaskets....)

Cheers

Renault are coming back with NA on the head gaskets unless Mr Dell knows different .
I'm about to start a full Z7X rebuild so have polished off my shovel to start digging  Ring sets are coming in at £45 each ..I could go Total seal for that ......
Mr Faulks is your best bet for advice on these .We have played around with a few and modded some waterway wise .Best drop him a PM 8)

Lee, can you post a pic up please, I can then check.

The issue is more the quality. There is only the one oil feed hole, what ever the head. The A610 head casting is the same as the 3ltr n/a with hydraulic lifters... So there are no extra feed holes for hydraulic vs solid lifters. I'm not sure where you are getting that info but I wouldn't worry about it.

There are differences in steam holes, but that's between the Z7U and the later engines.

So I would be looking at the quaility, stability of the gasket material under heat loading, and fire ring land area, and actual thickness. Please post some pics...

You might be surprised to find it's ok. Most of these gaskets are manufactured out East anyway, including Simon Auto's...

Thanks Martin,
The hydraulic lifter bit cam from the gasket packaging.
I have put a high resolution picture on Photo bucket- link below.
They claim to be UK made and "high quality" will be interested to see if you agree

They are still in the packet so the image is not that distinct, but I can still return them that way....

Cheers

Lee,

Which base lump are you thinking of building up with these? Do you have an over-pressure / boost level you are thinking of going too, or are you sticking to standard?

Depends on your plans, if you are thinking of moderate boost, I think you will be fine. If you ever see detonation, then I think you will see the fire ring collapse, I don't think these have the inner wire. I have crushed a set doing just that

STD boost only into a Laguna NA lump- hence the piston questions in the hijacked thread.....
Looks like they are OK, not ideal- is there a better source?
Cheers
