Mobile 1 does have a reputation for being sucked through turbo seals.
But I gather it comes in a couple of different grades and think that's the bit that isn't noticed.

Hmm, Now that is scary, I was born in Redruth but visited Farnham at age 15 and moved to the Farnham area when I hit 18 and have lived and worked locally ever since. I am not sure about Redruth (passed through last year for the first time in ages) but love Cornwall. I will look into Millers a bit more.

The Mobil 1 could be sucked through the seals if the wrong grade is chosen, thats when the myth that it is too thin comes into play, becuase synthetics can gown down to thin viscosities that mineral based oils can't reach, if the wrong synthetic oil grade is used then is can seem too thin.

Another thing to remember about synthetics is their ability to "flow". Take Mobil 1 15w-50 and put it against a mineral multigrade 15w-50 they are both exactly the same viscosity throughout the temp range, however the true synthetic Mobil will be a lot more fluid!

CHRIST ,THIS IS A MINEFIELD
My wife works for Fuchs oils and i am asking her to get me a list and some info on oils ,i think i will try the Silkolene pro range as by the discussion going on this seems a good oil to stick with ,i would rather pay more now for a good oil with longer change interval than risk a cheaper oil

It may be a minefield, but just like a minefield it is easy when you know what you are doing and can be disasterous if you just jump into it.
