Hi all
well i still have her for the time being and as she may go some time soon ( hopefully i will be able to keep her ) i took her for a blast and for the first time i saw 145 mph on the clock :D there may have been a little more to come but the acceleration had really slowed by that time.......120mph was fairly brisk but slowed quite a bit after that, also i really felt how light she had become on the front but she still tracked like an arrow so was well pleased but i don't think i will be doing it again any time soon......... i think its more fun under 100mph were the acceleration is anoth to play with other cars!!

You turbo boys don't know what your missing!! lol  long live the Atmo
never really ever thought that i would own a gta, but am i happy that i do!!.

A turbo will rev to 6100 in top, while the other needle is off the clock.

Long long road needed

Postby Tony Smith » Sat Aug 29, 2009 12:01 pm

In my experience you would need about a 5 mile run up to get a standard GTA much beyond 150mph. 153 was about the fastest road test figure if I remember rightly.

Yes i was on a very long dual carriage way with light traffic, im also pretty sure that my car kicks out more then the standard 160bhp due to the s/s performance exhuast.....if it is 160bhp then it feels very strong.

One day i may get a go in the turbo to feel the differance, i'm sure it's much faster but i do like the instant responce of the Atmo, just touch that throttle and your off, it's also very easy to modulate the throttle in corners, to feed the power in on the exits as there is no lag what so ever.
never really ever thought that i would own a gta, but am i happy that i do!!.

yes you have to get in a turbo and drive one,i will always remember the first time i drove the car i bought i was going up a hill in 3rd gear the revs hit 3000 and it was just like having two engins pushing you along. these alpines are amazing cars standard or turbo don't let it go

Cheers Andy it will break my heart if she goes but hopefully i will keep her and you never know i may actually have some money to spend on her nxt year ( everything crossed ! ).
I was out washing the atmo the other day when a Range Rover stopped beside me and the guy got out to have a look at her, he was stunned to see a GTA as he said " the last time i saw one was about 6 yrs ago" .
He was a proper petrol head and was totally smitten with the Alp and wanted to know if i would take him out in it one day ( love is in the air....lol  ) but then as we were talking it turns out that he has a Jenson Interceptor and an Alfa SZ...!! so i may get a go in them  .............excellant!! :D

Yes, but how many left are standard cars ?
Nowadays the temptation is too great to start fiddling around with adding performance exhausts, chipping, slightly larger swept turbo, etc..

You dont need to do too much to get a bit of extra ummmmppp :D
