Simon start up currents are not accurate on either types of meters, they are too slow, so I would ignore that reading, the running current is the most important, but as you noticed the current dropped after a bit of lubrication, which is a good sign.
You mention that you have cleaned and lubricated "the bearing",..... single..... there must be two bearings surley, or have I missunderstood you?
If you can see the commutator, then yes... give it a clean, but just have a look between the comm` and the bearing, there might be a felt washer which should be saturated with oil before you box it up, this is a kind of resevoire for lubricating the bearing over time.
I dont know if you saw it them, but I did post some pics of oiling the bushes of my Atmo rear fan without removing the impeller and showing the felt washer, if its of interest, clearly its not the same fan, but the principal is the same. (page 5, half way down) :wink:

The thermal fuse has now been replaced and the fan works as per spec, slow on ignition and speeds 1 2 & 3 progessivly get faster.

If any one has any cabin fan problems here are the answers.
- fast speed only, then it is likely yo be the thermal fuse which is part of the resistor pack mounted inside the top of the fan housing unit in front of the windscreen.
- fast speed does not work, then it is likely to be the relay, not too sure where in the cabin it is mounted.

HOW to Oil the rear bearing of the fan motor in less than 30 seconds with out removing the fan or the cowling, you just need a thin pointed screwdriver and a tin of 3-in-1 oil, see below how to remove the fan motor bearing cover.

Taking the fan housing out is the other long winded option.

To oil the other bearing, you need to remove the fan, remove the rotar blade unit and then you can get too it. Re-fitting of the rotar blade assembly can be tricky, but make real sure that the fan rotates well before putting motor back into housing, as it is very easy to get it all too tight and compound the problems of high current draw and a stiff fan.

If anyone wants their Ignition/1/2 speed to work, I am happy to replace the thermal fuse for you, just PM me.
