*shrug* originally bought mine becausr the book told me to. Never had any trouble using a 36. It's a large nut after all. The bigger is that you usually need a gun to shift it, unless it's been off before.

Saw lots of 32 and 36mm sockets on auto jumbe stands, and managed to pick up a brand new 35mm "Hub Socket", 6 sided for £6.
Thanks all, hopefully I can shift it with my little bar, else I'll be using my "abused" torque wrench which is 2 foot long.

Hi Simon,
I have bought a length of square section tubing that fits over the shorter bar on my 1/2inch socket set. Amazing it means that even with my inadequate muscles bolts come off (or shear with ease).

A couple of pounds from my local metal factor.

If you get stuck I also have a flywheel locking tool (a kind of serrated bracket that bolts into the bell housing where the flywheel cover is normally).

Cheers

On an atmo (and DeLorean) the nut often exceeds the ability of the clutch to hold it.

An age-old trick which I've never tried myself, is to wedge the bar on the ground (right hand side) and turn the key.

A decent gun is always best.
