Thanks for the ECU. Sadly though my car still idle's at 2900rpm :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry:

Does anyone have any idea's? Any help most most gratefully received!!

Have you tried hitting the valve ?No seriously, does it drop the revs if you tap it ?

Sure you haven't got any leaks ?Are all the little pipes to the manifold sound ?Do you have any little connectors missing from the manifold .Is your boost gauge feed line OK etc etc etc ......Check all after the throttle body ...

Accelerator cable snag ? Whip the plenum of the throttle body and see if the plate is closed .
Unplug the IAV see what happens .
Take the IAV off and plug the holes ,does it still idle high ??

Have checked the main hoses and all fine. Will try as you suggest asap. I'm getting pretty hacked off especially as i'm trying to organise some work i've got in Belgium round a trip to Spa and the 'Ring and don't want to mess it up!!!

You can run the car without the IAV if indeeed it is that causing the problem .Just adjust the throttle plate seat .There is a little grub screw that sets the plate closed position .It's under the lever that the arm pulls on .Wind it right up and even put a bit of a shim under it .
This is not ideal but will allow it to idle at about the right point .
I'm doing this at the mo on the Adaptronic setup .I will get round to fitting a stepper unit or summink when I get the urge .
What are you doing on Sunday ? On the fiddle ?If not pop up to Knutsford's city limits and the collective will sort it :lol:

Bless you!! Thats exactly what i was going to do, but i'm in the studio till Monday. I was really hoping to meet a few more members hence getting the car re-insured etc etc

Now that you have sorted out your shorting wires to the IAV, have you substituted the ECU for a known good one yet, as it does seem to me that there is a possibility that the driver transistors could have blown due to the shorts, as Martin suggested.
The other thing to try is to put your meter from earth to the pins of the IAV and see what readings you get. There should be 12v on the center pin at all times with the ign on, but as I mentioned before in the PM`s, I think there would be a 12v on one or other of the pins on normal running which switches to the other pin on idle, which is which I do not know, but it should change from idle to off idle, if you know what I mean.
Check with your ECU, then check again with a known good one, and see what you get.
