GTA Doors

Am I the only one that has had the door hinges delaminate from the door frame

any suggestions on how to fix this would make my week

Can you explain a bit more about the problem? I've replaced the door hinges and part of one of the supports built into the door had become detached from the door - sorted it with a blob of fibreglass and then built up a bit round about it just to add some strength. Is this the problem or is it something different?

I HAVE THAT SAME PROBLEM,THE TOP DRIVERS HINGE HAS COME AWAY FROM THE POST ALSO THE BOTTOM PASSENGER HINGE ,APPARENTLY ITS NOT TOO HARD A JOB [JUST NEEDS BONDING BACK ON] BUT I NEED TO FIND A GOOD BODY SHOP TO DO IT ,I LIVE IN STOKE ON TRENT ANY IDEAS

As you say the hinges have broken somehow,

Did try Laying up glass fibre between the door skin and the hinge and was only successful for a while, I May try the Guy mentioned in the Stoke area if you could forward his details it would help me out! as I was thinking about cutting the door about and using a plate on the cockpit side of the door to give the hinge something to bolt onto!!!!!

Could do with a number or something for Rob woodall in STOKE ,
THAT WOULD BE A BIG HELP ,THANKS

My drivers door top hinge has just dropped with the same problem, hinges on the pillar are fine, but the top on has come away inside the door.

Can anyone recommend anyone in the Home Counties/London area that could fix it - or bearing in mind these previous posts are almost four years old, is there a 'best-fix' nowadays?

Behind the fibgrglass of the frame is a steel structure to which the door bolts, and it's this that rots through. The proper fix is to cut away the fibreglass, replace the steel section, then repair the glass and re-spray. It can happen both in the pillar and in the door.

Cheers, that'll account for the rust in the bottom of the door

Fingers crossed it can be fixed without affecting the exterior of the door as that was only resprayed recently...
