Voyage to the bottom of the sea

Postby BIG_MVS » Fri Sep 19, 2008 9:03 am

Well that's where the breaker seems to have been!

Here are some pics I took last week when I removed the undertray of our minter GTA that we are breaking:

That'll weld up!

Holey chassis rails Batman!

Yes that's a big hole that you can see into the cabin, flinstones GTA!

Shocking  This car lived on the scottish coast and I think the sea air got to it! The rear is even worse, Clee that subframe will probably fall to bits when it comes off, your still welcome to it but you may need to patch it up a bit

I'm going to invest in some waxoil for mine this winter that's for sure....

Update time and it's gone to meet it's maker....People with weak hearts look away

Image

Hacked the front off to save another one though :D Note the colour coded strut brace 8)

Image

Subframe didn't survive because a) it was made of metal and b) because it was below sea level

Image

Likewise for the light weight lower wishbone

Image

Moral of the story, waxoil, waxoil and more waxoil

what are those bits under there

Postby Midlife » Tue Feb 03, 2009 4:39 am

What is the tube in photo one - last tube on the right next to the long coppery looking one . The one with the curly thing on the end ? My car must have one of those underneath but what is it ? Also in photo 2 what is the metal drum thing on the right of the picture with the rubber tube sticking out of it . Sorry for the ignorance but I am more of a'Autoglym & sparkplug' type of an owner & not a' plazma cut it in half' and take a look ,type of owner

Tube carries the wiring for the rear ABS sensors. Your car must have ABS then.

The cylinder object is the front fuel filter.

JohnC - I keep everything that is salvageable! Most bits are now long gone though.
