Avantime or Vel Satis?

Postby djdrever » Tue May 13, 2008 12:42 pm

Afternoon everyone. My GTA finally got back on the road after new wheels (thanks, DG) and windscreen (HeatedWindscreens) were fitted, and a lot of work was completed on repairing brakes, aircon, starting problems etc. Trouble is that I now don't want to use it on anything other than a guaranteed dry day so it's never going to be my daily driver again.

My question is this - Do the Avantime and Vel Satis represent the value for money that they appear to? I like them both, but I've been really taken with the looks and style of the Avantime (Red 3.0 would be nice 8) ). I know there's at least of couple of owners in the RAOC and I wondered what your views were? Prices seem low, but no-one appears to be buying on Autotrader or eBay at the moment.

Anyhoo, thanks for taking the time to have a read, I look forward to hearing your opinions.

Cheers

Both are great value.

Avantime is collectable and earns points for Renault Heritage events (same as GTA/A610) so useful if your Alpine is broken down.

Vel Satis is better screwed together and should be cheaper but not collectable and not eligible for any events.

Check co2 for all engine variants as road tax could become unaffordable soon for these.

I have a 2.0T Avantime.
Trafic, Twingo GT, Vel Satis Turbo x 2, Clio V6 Proto Ph2, Vel Satis 3.5, Avantime, Alpine A610, GTA Atmo x 3, GTA Turbo x 3, R5 Gordini Turbo Mid Engine, Alpine A310 4cyl, Alpine A110, Yellow Smart
